About
I work from my studio at The Chocolate Factory N16 in East London. I love the creative energy of working right in the heart of the city but I draw my inspiration from my travels and from the natural world.
My work is all about pattern and texture. I started working with fabric aged 19, selling hand-painted scarves to boutiques in New York’s SoHo district but then embarked on a career as an award-winning documentary film-maker, travelling the world making films on everything from Princess Diana to the world’s tallest trees before returning to art school and my first love of textiles.
As a film director II used light and colour to create moving pictures, now I try to bring that visual layering to my textile work.
My recent work draws inspiration from my travels to Morocco and the Aegean Islands. I’ve been developing a new series of experimental textiles, using a process of direct printing and mark-making with found objects, transferring surface textures and patterns onto fabric with lino ink and screen print to evoke the textures and shapes of rock formations, riverscapes and water surfaces.
My work is available as hangable artworks, scarves and interior accessories.
Talks, Workshops and Wholesale
I am always interested in collaborating with others to create work, take part in events to show or give talks about my work and the history and culture of textiles. I also work on private commissions for gifts or design schemes. Please contact me directly for any of these.
